Message from the Principal

Greetings CGMS Family and Friends!

I am beyond excited to serve the Cedar Grove Middle School students, parents, and community for the 2025-2026 school year!  With 26 years in education, I have had the privilege to serve as an elementary school teacher, a school counselor, college instructor, and assistant principal.  Taking the reins as Principal of Cedar Grove Middle School is an honor and I look forward to working with each of you!

I, along with our faculty and staff, have a goal to incorporate our commitment to Relationships, Relevance and Rigor into every aspect of the Bulldog community!  At Cedar Grove Middle School, we believe that forming meaningful relationships is the foundation of a great education.  We strive to build strong connections between students, teachers, families and the community to create a supportive network where every individual feels valued and understood.  Our commitment to relevance ensures that learning connects to the real world and that students understand the “why” behind their learning.  This instills a natural curiosity and prepares our students to thrive in an ever-changing world.  We will maintain high academic expectations for ALL students through rigorous coursework that challenges our students to think critically, and problem solve in creative ways.  Students will be encouraged to step outside of their comfort zones with curriculum content in an effort to enhance their confidence and content knowledge.  We want to inspire our students to reach beyond what they think is possible and help them open doors to endless possibilities.

Our ultimate goal is to make Cedar Grove Middle School a source of pride for everyone involved. We want students to feel proud to attend, faculty to excel in their profession, parents to enthusiastically support their children's education here, and the community to recognize us as Brunswick County's premier middle school. Together, we can make BIG things happen within our school community and continue to “Grow the Grove”...ensuring success for all students!

In Bulldog Spirit,

Sharon Herring, Principal
